Members Brook Brown Posted September 24, 2012 Members Posted September 24, 2012 Will be fishing on the White between Calico Rock and Mt. View next week. Primarily fly fishing but will have my two younger sons with me so I will also do some spin fishing with brown and olive jigs, gold and rainbow colored spoons and some Rapala Countdowns. What else do you recommend? Thank you.
cnr Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I think you have it spot on for spin fishing for the kids. Don't be afraid to use a larger Rapala or better yet a suspending one. I used to use the little stuff when I started out but have learned over the years that the larger suspending minnow baits will catch them big and small, but the small baits usually only catch small fish.

Ham Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I like the skunk colored ones for a very cloudy day or very late in the day. I like white with a silver blade on sunny days and yellow with a gold blade on cloudy days. I reach for the 1/8 oz size most often but carry 1/16 thru 1/4 oz.
