Jack Jones Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 Decisions, decisions. One more evening up here and I'm debatin between Finger Lakes SP and Ashland Lake. Gunner (or anyone else), what's your experience at Ashland Lake? "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
drew03cmc Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 How about the parks in town, Hinkson Creek flow through them and would hold largemouth, bluegill, green sunfish and probably cats and carp. It could be a fun place to take a short, mid weight fly rod. Andy
moguy1973 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 You might want to try Perry Phillips Park that is just south of Columbia too. It has a really nice walking path all the way around the lake so plenty of shore access. Not sure on the quality of the fishing though. I know there's a 12-15" slot for largemouth so I'm sure there's a lot of fish in that range in there. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Bill B. Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Do you have any small white buzzbaits or spinnerbaits with you? If you do, then I vote for Rocky Fork (the north side) or Tri-City Lake between Sturgeon and Centralia.
Jack Jones Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 No buzzbaits or spinnerbaits with me. Some plastics and some small cranks. Mostly fly gear since I stopped at Bennett on the way up and will again on the way back. I did get to Perry Philips Park this afternoon for about an hour and a half. Pulled in about half dozen bluegills on poppers. Switched to 4" finesse worms and pulled in about 4 smaller largemouth from the weedbeds near the dock. Have a two pictures from that. I'll post those a bit later when I upload them. Now I have to figure if I want to go back there tonight, or check out Finger Lakes.... Jack Jones Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 Here's from this afternoon at Perry Phillip's Park. Wish I had taken a pic of those gills'. They were good size and fought harder than the bass. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
fishinSWMO Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Not sure on the quality of the fishing though. I know there's a 12-15" slot for largemouth so I'm sure there's a lot of fish in that range in there. I wish that was the case on the lakes around here, same slot regulations but a few dinks is the norm. I'm sure mdc envisioned lots of fish in the slot too. Jeremy Dodson

Wonder if people just ignore it and keep whatever they want. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

Jack Jones Posted September 28, 2012 Author Posted September 28, 2012 Ended up at Finger Lakes this evening. Here's two of the many I caught on a black popper and Jitterbug. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
