Sprint21fter Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Finished 3rd out of 15 boats for the Benefit Tourney for the basketball team. Launched out of Big Indian and head up Big Indian Creek to some pockets located at the mouth of the creek and started catching fish. The first five minutes caugh our biggest fish on a white buzzebait, a solid 3.5 black a couple of casts later my partner bagged out 2nd keeper on spook jr. worked the pocket around some poll timber and didn't get bit. Pulled the trolling moter and moved to another pocket and caught the heck of the small fish. Headed to the back of Trace Hollow and same thing caught a butt load of small fish mostly on top water and some came on crawdad cranks. Changed locations again and went up Little Indian and fished a deep pocket that I refer to "Coon Cove" due to the people that put out corn and a pack of coons swim across to get some food. They do it every year. Anyways fished the mouth of the pocket on a deep ledge and bagged some more short fish on a jig. Fished all the way to the back and bagged two more keepers. It was 10:30 by this point. Changed locations again to a mainlake pocket and caught our fifth keeper brownie on a jig in 15ft of water. After 1:30 the bite shut down for us. Hit well over a 20 different pockets and caught fish in every one of them. Only difference compared to last week was that most of the bait fish was pushed out to the mouths of the pockets instead of in the back. Our weight was 10.67 for five fish. 1st place was 12.91 heard that they caught keepers on topwaters and squarebills topwater fish were the better quality for them. 2nd place was 11.98 and heard he caught his fish on a wart and caught 16 keepers all in 2ft of water on windy banks. All of us fished around Baxter to KC. Never fished anything deeper than 15ft even if I was on a steep bank. Chunk rock with some isolated timber, hardwoods/ceders was what we were keying in on.
