Members Nightbrew Posted October 9, 2012 Members Posted October 9, 2012 Would this float be wise with current water levels, I never been on this section before and dont know what it is like? How is the fishing?
Members SamC489 Posted October 9, 2012 Members Posted October 9, 2012 I hope so. We are going Baptist to Akers Friday-Monday. Looks like rain thursday, I think we will be ok.
Gavin Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Its running at 47 cfs at Montauk and 157 cfs, and less than a foot on the Akers guage. Floatable, but very very low....pack light cuz you will be dragging a bit...Usually no dragging at 1.75 or so on the Akers Guage.
stlfisher Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Yeah its really low up in the Park and the Blue Ribbon section. About half as much water as should be this time of year.
jdmidwest Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Big Spring in Van Buren? If so, that stretch is closed to boat traffic. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Gavin Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Didnt hear about a closure down river....but who knows..not a place I've been in a long time. Should still be easy floating below Welch Spring at this level.
Members salmotrutta Posted October 10, 2012 Members Posted October 10, 2012 I floated and fished 3 trips from Baptist to Akers last week. Only had to drag the canoe a few times, fishing was great. Enjoy
