Mark Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Annual fall trip is just a week away. Looks like Eleven Point area is getting a good soaking today. How is the work progressing at Whitten? Is boat launch still closed? Any idea on when it will reopen?

Members diamondback#5 Posted October 15, 2012 Members Posted October 15, 2012 fished the 11 point wed. afternoon at greer after it warmed up a bit, turned out to be a beautiful day and the fishing was good, fished mostly above the bridge and the water was lower than I've ever seen it, very easy to wade and get to the fish though. I tried a black stonefly nymph first and didn't get any takes so I desided to try streamer fishing and tied on a #10 nearnuff sculpin and started to catch fish, the largest was a brilliant colored 15in. rainbow, all together probably caught around 12 to 14 all stream bread fish and some of the most brilliant colored fish that I've caught in that river. I did fish downstream of the boat ramp and caught 3 in the slick water right above the first run below the ramp. the water was really clear and I saw a lot of fish in the river, some really nice ones right below the ramp.
ColdWaterFshr Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Fished it this weekend and it was tough -- caught only 4 or 5. Saw a ton of fish just down from the boat launch at Greer, but few were seen anytime after that. Do they still float stock or have they gotten lazy and reverted to their old ways of dumps from the truck? Great weekend to be out though.
Greasy B Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 The river looks great. Did you get the big rain? It's kind hard to get a good nights sleep when your camp is only a few feet above the river. ColdWaterFshr Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Oh yeah, late Saturday night it rained pretty hard from about midnight to 6 a.m. only letting up a couple times. Didn't get much sleep. River didn't come up at all though.
Greasy B Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 I've camped on some awfully low gavel bars on 11 of myself. I can't stand to stay at one of the float camps, too dark and claustrophobic. Brian Sloss Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 They have not stocked since late June3/early July, and yes they do float stock them. There are plenty of fish down from the Greer put in, I guess you just didn't see them. They are really easy to see just down from the ramp a little as it is not too deep, almost no current and very clear water. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
ColdWaterFshr Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Brian, I usually see them everywhere above and below LMD and BMD and the fish just were not there, or at least not in their usual #'s. I spent quite a bit of time just looking and observing in shallow tailouts to deep water, to medium depth with and without current. Nothing. Of course there was 2 otters busy at work right in that area, so maybe that could be it. Fish I caught all looked like stockers. Tried fishing deep and deeper, heavy nymph rigs ticking bottom, stones, don's crawfish, prince nymphs, different sizes and depth adjustments.

Wish I could go this weekend, hope the leaves hang on just a little longer! Cenosillicaphobiac
