It must be just about Duck Season again! Driving along an East to West route today watching flocks of geese coming down from the north. I was outside awhile ago blowing off the mower after leaf mulching and heard an old familiar sound, snow geese. Looked up and a flock passed over the house. There was a big flock of water turkey on a local lake the other day also.

I guess the incoming front is pushing them south. Trouble is, there are not many wetlands around here for them to use.

This weekend on 11PT, I did see one flock of mallards, several woodies, and a couple of grebes. I really expected to see teal and more waterfowl, but as low as the river is, teal would be dragging their feet in most spots...

My group did good this year on the reservation side, 3 trips to Schell Osage. I pulled the 4th day of season, Election Day. 2 others pulled the last weekend of deer season and Thanksgiving Weekend. We had a great time there last year and am looking forward to doing it again. I am all pumped up for November and will probably be done by December. Our December sucked last year as strong south winds seem to blow ducks in other directions instead of the Mississippi River area.
