Got there at a leisurely time since it was so cold. I was on the stream at 9 something. Same drill, walked down the trail at Baptist, to a 'usual and accustomed ' place. Worked the same hole where I landed the big brown last March (time flies). RL w. PT dropper, nice rainbow after a few casts. It slowed a bit so I switched the PT to one w. rainbow sow scud dub on the thorax, #16, copper BH--nice hard hit, fat 16" brown, beautiful colors and a great fighter.

Moved up to different holes after that, not finding much success. Finally got to the first deep hole downstream f. the parking lot. where the river turns slightly. (I had no luck in the big S turn where the dead fall was.) I've had limited luck here in the past. Put on a new PT variation w. biot wings w. zebra midge trailing and split shot above. Missed a take and saw a big brown shake his head and spin around like he was hooked, but my rig was in the air. Must have felt the sting? Not sure. Anyway, he was big--20" or so, he slowly drifted away downstream. If only...! So I kept working and another hard hit, 14" brown, beautifully colored also and another good fight, hit the zebra. These trout look great now. Landed a nice bow after that, then lost another smaller bow after. This hole was full. It slowed down so I put on a cream midge w. copper BH, another hard hit, 13" brown, another beauty. It slowed after that and I felt vindicated at that hole. Headed back for late lunch and beer, decided to head home.

Beautiful browns on PT/midges, on my birthday...yep a good day.

I did, a few smaller ones, even jigged a black Meat Whistle, got a few 'bows to check it, but no charges. Water's very low, and lots of submerged leaves, making nymphing a headache at times. Some rain would be nice.
