mic Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Has anyone ever fished the public section of mill creek at the top of this map upstream (where the picnic and parking spots are in red)?
Kayser Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 FS Rd 1576 crosses Mill Creek just upstream from the MTNF picnic area, and follows a different creek/hollow, up a ridge to cross Hwy T, then down the other side to the Vida Slab Bridge on the Little Piney. The road it branches off from runs from Hwy P, along Mill, past the Picnic area, and then to Bohigian on Hwy AA. So basically, those red marks are for parking along Kaintuck Hollow, and not Mill Creek. If you come from Newburg, take T to P, you'll see the MTNF Mill Creek Picnic area sign on the right, with the gravel road on the left. Go a couple miles and the parking area will be on your left. Or, you could pass this road, go up the hill, take the left on AA, and then Bohigian will be on your left. Gravel parking lot. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
2sheds Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 So, does anyone fish Mill Creek downstream (north) of FM 1576 ?
Kayser Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Doesn't really matter which way you fish. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
mic Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 Your killing me Kayser Have you ever fished that area with any luck?
Kayser Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Yep. The fish are there. I just prefer to let them go when the water is low like this- they bunch up in the deeper holes and can be hard to get to bite, and easy to spook. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
mic Posted November 2, 2012 Author Posted November 2, 2012 I wonder how far downstream you have to go before there are smallies?
Kayser Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Find bigger water with some slower pools for bass. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
