moodyfour Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 What a beautiful morning to start the season. Had two Drake Mallards sit down right out of gun range early? Three shovelers made a beautiful landing, but we decided to let them move on. Then the biggest surprise of the year so far, a Drake Pintail came right in. We have never in 35 years or so of hunting have ever seen a pintail at this property. We dropped him, but unfortunately he didn't have a sprig to showcase. We figure he is a juvenile. I will post a pic later, but what a day!
BilletHead Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Nice Moody, beautiful bird for sure. I am close to the midde zone and did make a drive up there to see if there were any hunters around four rivers. Just around unit # 4. Just a bit of water up there in pools as the marsh is not flooded. Seen about twenty rigs parked in lots. They all had to hike in a ways to find a place to hunt. Scouted a few ponds and small lakes in my zone. A few ducks around. smaller places had gadwall and bigger waters had scalp. i will be ready for the 22nd. Feathers and Fins Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Nice pinnie, early season bird is why he is missing the writing tool. I stayed in AR and played with with the fishies after Marty was so kind to tell me about a couple areas i thought about hunting, i just have got older and dont feel like getting peppered and it sounded like that kind of opener. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
moodyfour Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 Didn't make it out this morning too foggy... Dad said not much movement due to the thick fog.... Can't wait to get a good strong cold front to move through and send some birds down.... Have a great week everyone.
