DaddyO Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Had a 40 fish morning on the LIR today. Several nice Rainbows put a good tug on the line, however, the highlight of the day was this nice brown. It's not huge, but it is the largest Brown that I have caught on this river. Here's a pic of one of the Rainbows. Half of the fish and the Brown were caught on the Hair and Copper. The other half were caught on the Game Changer midge that DGames ties. It was a good day. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Members joshuapaul Posted November 5, 2012 Members Posted November 5, 2012 I had a buddy over there on Saturday. He said it was perfect weather. Looks like those are great size for the 2wt. I've got to get over there. Congrats on that nice brown DaddyO! to life! Josh www.towindward.tumblr.com OKC, OK
Nick Williams Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 DaddyO, I had a nice 12-13" brown last week as well. It had me wondering, is there a bigger brown population in the river than we realize?? It also makes me wonder about the "trophy" section of the river and how it is doing since there is really no road access now! Here's my brown from last week. Yours looks even chunkier than mine! I also noticed that several of the rainbows I was catching were quite a bit chunkier, and that I seemed to be seeing several much larger trout in the river. I had a couple fish on soft hackles but the majority came from nymphing. - Nick
DaddyO Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 Josh, I saw a guy snap his 2wt, Sunday. Nick, I heard that the ODWC stocked some chunkier browns and bigger rainbows in the last stocking. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Members joshuapaul Posted November 6, 2012 Members Posted November 6, 2012 Please tell me it was snapped by a fish and not a car door or tree limb... to life! Josh www.towindward.tumblr.com OKC, OK
DaddyO Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 Please tell me it was snapped by a fish and not a car door or tree limb... Yes. I followed him from the parking lot, hoping he wasn't going to the hole that I wanted to fish. He was and he did. So, I went down river and fished the hole below him. I heard the rod snap. It was on his first fish. He went back to the car and got his 6wt to finish out the day. He was a nice guy and I felt bad for him, but he said that he could fix it. Sounded like he knew what he was talking about. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.

On The Fly 6 Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Was the water still off colored? I was there last Sunday and it wasnt real clear. JCWolfe Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 It was on monday as I was there. I'm going this morning and will report back the water conditions. Maybe the lake is turning over?????????? I can't think of a reason why it would look like that other than turning over. Okiemountaineer
