Fished below the dam today. Fish midging everywhere. Caught lots. Watched a guy just above rebar catching fish, draging them up on the rocks, pinching them between his feet reaching down with forcips to remove the hook then kicking them back in the water. He had a net on his back but never used it. It was cold and I don't think he wanted to get his hands wet. I hollered from across the stream but he didnt hear me or ignored me. I guess some fisherman just think taney trout are indistructible.

It's that kind of crap that just creates more of a justification for animal rights extremists. I wish people like that would just stop fishing.

You should see how they treat the fish here at Roaring River, I've seen em do everything but drop kick them back in the river.

The worse thing I've seen done during the winter season, is overplaying a large fish, and then keeping it out of the water for 2 or

3 minutes and then the fisherman wonders why the trout rolled over and is now dead, some people just never figure out how

to release a fish unharmed.

A friend and I went to the dam on sunday and right when we pulled up a guy was trying to revive about a 12lb male at outlet 2. A bystander mentioned he caught the fish about an before then but kept it around way too long,(pics etc) and Im sure out the water for large portions of that time. I didnt stick around to see the outcome but no matter what it wasnt good to begin with.

This just breaks my heart! Proof positive, a fishing rod and reel doesn't a fisherman make.

God is my Pilot! I'm just riding "shotgun".

Sorry guys, Taney is put and take and no natural reproduction occurs. They will just stock more within a few days. I can't say I hold any grudge for killing a trout that was put in the lake to be killed. If it was at one of the Blue Ribbon streams, then it will irritate me a bit.

You tried to educate. Good on ya !

I see it often... what Tim mentioned of the trout park treatment.. I see it here daily. Regularly. It's almost the norm.

Seen a few fights.. almost got into one myself recently..

Last guy I talked to about keeping illegal small fish looked at me like he was a meth addict. He yelled at me... scared the crap out of me really. I walked on and looked back, he had left just a few minutes later.

Just once I wish a trout would wink at me!

Watched a guy do that on a 22" rainbow one day up at outlet 1 after fighting it for a long time. This was int he summertime too so it's not like his hands were freezing. He let the fish go and it just kind sat on the bottom and started going belly up. Another guy noticed this and jumped out in front of the moron and tried his best to revive that fish. It eventually swam off. I hope it made it and his attempt to revive it was for nothing. It just makes me bow my head in shame that some people could care less about such things and but I'm sure they will be bragging about how they landed a nice rainbow on their fly rod.

Don't want to argue but I'm going to have to disagree with you drew03. I don't think a fish released I'm taneycomo is there to be killed but more to be enjoyed. If someone wants to harvest a legal fish, that's their right. And to presume to know that no reproduction is happening in the lake is in my opinion a little narrow minded to put it politely.

navery - MDC manages Taneycomo as if there is no natural reproduction here. That's not to say there is no successful spawn but no little it does figure into their management plan. There may be in some of the feeder creeks but not in the lake.

Some people don't like put and take lakes which Taney is and that's ok... fortunately there are a lot that do!
