Today At George Winter

Decided to do a little fishing this afternoon, the place of the day was George Winter Park on the Jeff County end. Fished down at the end for a while where there were some fallen trees for cover. Think I missed a couple, no use to the soft bite yet and I am not sure my equipment is correct for weightless Texas rigged Sencos. Using a white as that is what I have been having the most luck using. No real action there so I decided to move up the bank some to the inside curve of a small point, there was some logs in the water and the sun was shinning on the water there too. Was a little slow still but I did manage to pull 2 nice ones out. At least they were nice by my standards.

A buddy of mine pulled a 3lb LMB out of there the other day on a rooster tail near the boat ramp.

Gramps, what kind of fish did you catch? I only caught a decent gar there once while fishing from the shore, and then hooked another one in the main river section from the shore again and that was it. Though I saw a couple of dead carp, regular and asian, nearby too. What kind do people catch at GW in general?

Today I caught a couple of bass, but when out in the boat and using minnows I have caught crappie, channel cat, & gar. A lot of people fish for cat and gar around there. Today there were some guys fishing for carp. I have caught carp over in the river but not in the lake.

Went back there today to do a little fishing. Was using a 1/4 oz white rooster tail by the front boat ramp, all I caught was a pair of sunglasses.

Went on the river side of the ramp to free a snag and found a live basket that was in nice shape.

I snagged me a reel on the Meramec near Unger Park once. I think it got tossed by my parents months later. Never bothered to clean it and try it out.
