flyrodman Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 I usually tie with UNI thread but today i tied with some Danville 6/0 thread and broke the thread 3 times in an hour. I havent broken my 6/0 UNI for a few months. Strange. Anybody else have this problem? Luke Walz
timsfly Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Nope, I use both and don't have trouble with either thread Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
fishinwrench Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Danville 6/0 is some weak stuff, I use it only for thread midges. Even the spring on my whip finisher will break it if I get in a hurry. Builds up nice though.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I am not a fan of Danville anything to be honest, but there is a lot of it out there and is cheap. After using UNI for almost 10 years... I can tell when it counts. UNI is a bonded filament thread if I remember correctly. UNI has gone up too... Bass Pro just up'd it to $4.29 a spool (200yds) This is a neat article : http://globalflyfisher.com/tiebetter/thread_control/ Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
