This morning I decided I had to go fishing so I hooked up the jet boat to the bug and headed to the narrows. I havent seen the river as low as it was this morning, but I was there so I was heading up river. The first shoal almost took me out. my first try I took the wrong line apparently, and I ran into the gravel. my bow turned around and started downstream and promptly hit a tree and dipping the left rear corner of the boat underwater! I scrambled up to the front and got off the tree and thankfully my bilge pump worked. I regrouped and made the shoal and did some fishing. Fishing was fair, would have been much better if I had remembered my box of jigs. Biggest fish was ~17". I only caught 5 before I let the rain chase me off. On the way down I had a even worse scare. doing about 15mph I hit a log underwater and my motor came off the transom and landed on the back deck! What a scare that was. Time for some remodeling on the transom extension.

Sound like almost a disaster. remember almost tearing the back of a boat off when kicking a motor in gear at a fast idle. Never did that again.

Wow, sounds like a rough go, what a difference from last year, we ran way upstream with no problems. Least you caught some fish. Sounds like we need a lot of rain.

There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

Did you make it as far as Blue Spring?

Doesn't your jet have a kickoff release when you hit something.

11 pt is too low for jets. When you have to drag a yak over a shoal, it is too low for jets.

I think the stream is flattening out more than it used to be over the years past. Most runs had a deep channel before, now it seem like they are just shallow all way across in alot of areas.

my kick-up apparently isnt working.

I like to live on the edge, this time I went too close to the edge. The river is the same as it was last year, just with far less water.

in 2.5hr I caught 5 fish: 1 baby largemouth, a 17" smallie, 15" smallie, and a couple smaller smallies.

I wouldnt take a boat I cared much about up the river. Maybe its time to start on my jet tunnel project.
