Shad Or Perch For Bait

I have arrived at Holiday Island for 10 days of fishing. Any advice or clues on where I can get some Shad or Perch for bait? I don't have a boat so I'm thinking I'll have to try the marinas or maybe just throwing my cast net from the shore in some back coves or creeks.

I fished the James today and the docks were just full of Bluegill. Very seldom this late in the year will we see this type of concentration of gills that high in the water column. You might ask and try at Holliday Island Marina, they may give you all the gills you need.

Try the beach area at Beavertown Ive done real well there for shad in the past or possibly near the bridge by the marina. Shoot RPS a Pm he might know.

If you're going to target flatheads I would stick with perch.

Definitely perch...Any bank with bluff rock will hold green sunfish..1/32 ounce brown marabou jig..
