Quillback Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Watched the 2nd half of the SEC championship game last night, good game, I was pulling for GA, they had a chance, but with 15 seconds to go and the ball on the AL 15, they threw a pass to a well covered receiver on the 5 yd line who was tackled immediately and time expired. Why they didn't line up and spike the ball is beyond me, they might have had 2 shots at the end zone had they done that. Don't know what the coaching staff was thinking. Now we have ND vs The Tide. Tide has looked vulnerable against LSU and now GA and lost to A&M, maybe ND has a chance?
Feathers and Fins Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 But ND is not even close to GA, A&M and LSU. 37 Days for Saban to Plan for it im going with the Tide. They figured out last night Run right at the problem pass rusher and you will win, I am betting a heavy rushing game in the first 3 quarters wearing down ND D-line and a 4th quarter beat down by the air. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 The last pass was to the end zone, but it was tipped. The guy who caught the tip should have dropped it. I'm not a ND fan by any stretch, but without prejudice the fact is ND doesn't put points on the board and 'Bama does. Bama has to be the pick. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
ozark trout fisher Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 ND has a great chance, in my opinion. There are few defenses that can stop Alabama's running backs (Georgia sure couldn't, and that's why they lost), but Notre Dame's run defense is arguably the best in the country. Alabama is probably gonna have to rely largely on AJ McCarron to beat Notre Dame through the air...but once again, the Irish's secondary is very good. Alabama is the better team, in my opinion, but this does not look like a good match up for them. I have Notre Dame pulling the upset. Oh, and congrats to Northern Illinois for somehow wrapping up a BCS bid in the biggest surprise of the day. Truly shocking but at 12-1 they deserved it. I feel legitimately bad for Oklahoma, who also deserved that given their resume...But this is a one in a thousand chance for Northern Illinois. It will be interesting to see if they can give Florida State any trouble...They have a great quarterback.
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 I didn't think NIU really deserved it. The only two teams they played that play in the big leagues were Iowa and Kansas, they beat Kansas, but who didn't. OK on the other hand gave KSU a win and loss to ND, the number one team in the country. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Quillback Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 I'm looking forward to the Arkansas State vs Kent State game. Also the WA vs Boise State game (due to my Northwest roots, it's a heckuva matchup for that part of the country). And the K State vs Oregon game should be entertaining. I do hope ND can pull off the upset, or at least keep the score close.
stlfisher Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 I think the Tide win it as well, but I am really hoping it is a close enteraining game. The Georgia vs. Bama game was awesome. Speaking of that Georgia should be in a BCS game. They are far better than Northern Illinois, Wisconsin, and Louisville.
ozark trout fisher Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 I agree that Georgia should play in a BCS bowl. But for me, it's not really Northern Illinois that should be left out...They at least won enough games to be deserving, even though there aren't necessarily any great wins. Wisconsin is the inclusion that has me shaking my head. I actually like Wisconsin and it's not their fault, but a five loss team in the Rose Bowl? Really, with Oklahoma, Georgia, and Texas AM all still on the board? These conference champion tie-ins need to go away, as does the rule mandating that there can't be more than two teams from one conference. The best teams ought to be selected. I realize the system is changing somewhat in a couple years, but not really. It will still be a system where a 5 or 6 loss conference champion can be a major bowl...Again, nothing against Wisconsin, but this year they don't have the resume of a BCS team. The funny thing is, a non-bcs bowl might be the best matchup this year outside of Bama-Notre Dame and Oregon K-State. The Cotton bowl has Oklahoma and Texas AM. I'm left wondering why that's not a BCS game and Stanford-Wisconsin or Florida-Louisville is.
Feathers and Fins Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 OTF, Its all about money! There are 35 bowl games 35 thats 70 teams out of what 122 teams. I wish they would simply take the top 4 teams from each conferance pit them against eachother till there is a winner per conferance then put the winners in a play-off similiar to NFL play untill we have two teams left and they play for the NC. Let the fans and teams have a true champion. The only bowls i really watch anymore are the Cotton, Sugar and NC. But i could promise you i would try and watch ALL the play-offs if structured right, as i am sure many fans would and that would be much more money to the NCAA and Schools https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Quillback Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 Yeah if I was appointed dictator of NCAA football, I'd organize the major schools into 8 or 6 (or whatever number) of 16 team, 8 teams per dvision, regional superconferences. Each superconference would have a championship game between the division winners, and the champions would go into a playoff system that would ultimately decide the NCAA champ.
