Members champ198 Posted January 6, 2013 Members Posted January 6, 2013 I know there are some real jerkbait guru's on here, and I've learned an awful lot from all they have shared in the past. I've picked up some vision 110's, mcstick's, and pointer 100's over the years and have had good success using them. I'm wondering what jerkbaits you like to throw for a little deeper presentation. I've been looking at the Staysee 90, DD pointers, and the deeper diving vision 110. Under what conditions do you toss the deeper diving baits?
Sore Thumbs Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I have heard good things about those staysees. You might check out Jackal squirrel. I have heard good things abot them as well. As far as when to use the deeper ones I am curious myself. I can only assume when the water is coldest and they are suspended reall deep.
ozarkgunner Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I always throw the 110 plus one on ozark lakes. it gets down deeper and seems to be more productive most of the time. It also catches a ton of walleye. I don't like the pointer deep divers as the action changes too much. I have caught a ton of fish on pointers however I just cant stop throwing the 110+1. smbasser Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I've went almost exclusively to the 110+1. I'll throw the standard ones when I'm typically under 8 foot but normally I'm on bluff ends or channel swings. Just have more confidence with the +1. This was today on the elegy bone +1, pomme de terre though
troutgnat Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Nice fish Basser! Darren Sadler "Fishing is an Education...Often the fish 'school' me, yet I do not complain. I just keep going to class!"
ozarkgunner Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Nice bass! Pomme has some pigs if you weed out the shorts. I found 110+ 1 for $15 each this fall. Loaded up with a dozen new ones. Is that the bluff near the dam where the lake splits ( two arms meet)? I have caught some hogs on that bluff. Angler At Law
Football Head Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 What a toad Basser nice job. You can't beat the 110+ 1 IMO.
jeb Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I've had the most luck on the LC DD and XD jerkbaits on Beaver and TR when wanting deeper jerks. I have some of the vision 110+ lures, but I've yet to catch a single fish on them around here. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
cullinby9 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I normally use the deeper divers when the water is below 45 and the fish are on bottom its more a specific need tool. Like a brush pile that tops out in 15 ft I can get the bait to suspend 12ft down and thats about what I get out of a stacesy. most of the time I make the bait tickle the rock until it releases then keep it still but I don't use the deep diver as much as I used too. I'm convinced a fish will rise out of 20 feet or more to get a jerkbait. its all about patience. When I need extra depth out of my vision 110 i add extra split rings to it until it sinks at a rate of about 1ft every 30 seconds this has made a huge difference down at table rock, stockton anywhere I'm not fishing specific brush cover or shallower than 10ft. I use three colors and keep 3 of each a slow sinker the suspender and a slow floater. So unless I'm trying to get to bottom and bang the bait around I just stick with the regular models.
