ozarkgunner Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I love fishing the megabass in water that is close to freezing. Every year I get my biggest bass of the year on jerkbaits in the middle of winter. I propose a bragging right photo contest. Biggest jerkbait fish ( bass or walleye) from today until March 1. Any takers? Angler At Law
Dutch Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 A couple of days go but not now.... A friend of a friend had a 9# greenie at Pom on a jerk. I think you have a good idea and if I get a good jerker I'll post a pic. So how much money does it take to enter this derby and how will you verify the weight? Or is this just a fun thing?

rps Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I caught a 6 pounder in mid December at LOZ Gravois Arm on a Megabass jerkbait! Photo now attached! Very good fish! Only a matter of time before a larger one though.
Members 713lefty Posted January 6, 2013 Members Posted January 6, 2013 I agree that a 6 will not be tops. Just my best. I have caught one about that size the last 3 years on a jerkbait at the LOZ. This was a few ounces bigger, technically my best winter fish on a big lake. I had a 7.07 on a jig in a 3 acre pond on February 20, 2011. That was one of those 65*F windy days. Hooked and lost one that I could not turn in a big laydown about a half hour later on the same jig. Never saw it. Maybe this year I can beat a 6 pounder myself.
