Watermelon Color

I love the chigger craw. I found them on sale for $1 at cabelas and now have 30 packs. They will be gone in 6 months.

I have fished walleyes extensively on Lake of the Woods MN. and have concluded that I have caught more and larger walleyes on 4 in. Kalin Lunker Grubs in a watermelon red than any other jig/grub combination. I have lots of pumpkins and similar colors and they don't stand a chance against the watermelon red. The bad news is they don't make the Lunker Grub in watermelon red anymore. They make it in watermelon red flake which is not the same. The watermelon red had a red streak down the sides that walleyes found irresistable. I have called Kalin to see if they would make more and they said no.Their watermelon flake is just not the same. For bass fishing I have found pumpkin and watermelon red both very effective. Match the bottom of the lake to the color of the grub and you usually can't go wrong.

The weightless sinko bite was just stupid this spring. When the water was up in the buck brush I was catching 30 keepers (mostly bucks with a few big sows mixed in) a day. I had to wrap my sinko with electric tape ( where the hook goes) to keep from running out of baits. A sinko bite gets expensive. I like the chompers brand better than the original.

Get a Red fish marker pen and mark your watermelon Kalins. I use the pens and the Dip type dyes quite a bit. One of my favorite tricks when I am Jig fishing with Browns, Bluegills, and Greens is to use a Zoom Craw for a trailer and dipping the first 1/2" of the claws in the Chartreuse dye. The only problem with this is that the Walleye(?) have a tendency to bite off the claws if you set the hook quickly like on a Bass.

Walleye would eat a chartreuse beer can if it hit the water. Odd color attraction.

Caught some nice walleye this fall on 4 in. red/black Chigger Craws. Really kinda was surprising to me. Your right too ozarkgunner about the chartreuse.
