MOBass
I don't see anything terrible with the site as it stands. As for the drama I just don't read those post. It might be nice to see a seperate section for reports only and general post in another area. I will say that I see more reports here than I do on the other sites I visit. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 31, 2006 Root Admin Share Posted October 31, 2006 ibt, my best friend gets ticked at me for giving away fishing spots and reports that esp involve his fishing experiences. There's always going to be people out there that think this way. But that's the beauty of the internet- you have all kinds of people out there. There are those who only read and never sign up- that's ok! You look at the number of people view the forum and most of the time non-members out number the members. Yes- I do try things to try to get them to enter into the conversation. I think that's healthy. But no one is twisting an arm. I can't- not thru the screen I thought about the fishing report forum idea. I could setup a extra forum under each river, stream, tailwater and lake and label it "fishing reports only" and don't allow followup posts. But there are alot of people out there who ahve a hard time navigating the forum as it is. One thing I've noticed about alot of the fishing reports, esp on Taney, is that there isn't the details needed for others to learn by. Only pics and "I caught this last night on a wooly" report. The best reports are detailed- that's why I require DETAILED reports in exchange for lodging discounts here at the resort. Sometimes I reply and rib someone I know - "Details Man!" May be I can work on something.
Terry Beeson
TB, every class has a clown!!!!!!! And some clowns have CLASS!! One comment on the "drama"... I personally don't care if a person posts the GPS and lure of choice, but the reasoning behind the drama mentioned was the fact that when you do, there are many who will flock to that spot. I would like to think I could post the GPS and hot lure and those that went there would respect the "honey hole." But I think I would be the one PO'd if the next time I went to fish it, there were 20 guys standing in the secret place and all the fish had been caught and put in freezers and frying pans... That's the chance taken, and that was the point that was raised. Another comment in regards to that... I have said this before also... It is very difficult to articulate through the written word. Those who write for a living or at least have been published are better at it than most. However, we tend to read these posts and read the "emotions" of the writer - many times incorrectly. I tend to be an optimist and probably read things on a more positive note. Anyway... I respect and value the opinions of every person who posts on this forum. However, I do hope that my opinions are respected as well.... Guest lbt
I have gone to the view new post and bookmarked it now I do not read anything but new post. I would like to think this a public forum and that anything could be posted but I feel and there may be more that feel this way I'm not sure. If I were to post a fishing report and post pics and or GPS and lure of choice and depth I know that I would get hammered from the locals the one that post on here all the time. The last time I checked I'm a Tax payer and if I want everyone in the world to know where I'm fishing and what I used then thats my choice. If i pull up there next time and there are 20 people there then so be it. One thing That I do not understand is how many people get on here for Taneycomo and post reports and all they say is caught them on a secert fly or a woolybugger and then post a pic of a big fish. Hell Taneycomo is only 23 miles long there are no secret spots or secret flies. The MDC stocks over 500,000 fish in there every year. Whats the big secret how many threads have gone wrong or headed off in the wrong direction because someone told an actual truthfull fishing report. It proves nothing to me about someone when they do that. It just proves how conceded people are and how good they actually think that they are.. All I would like to see is that we get back to some very good basic educational fishing reports.
Members rls1936
Phil should be commended for his great site - its a lot more work than most people think. A forum like this can be over-run with spammers in short order, but this site is maintained almost to perfection. I for one got back into trout fishing because of the information on this site. So, Phil, keep up the great work. You are doing a great service to the community.

twosets
The beauty of this site is that someone starts a thread of "Post your big trout pictures here" and we get a succession of the smallest fish that one could imagine anyone catching. There is also a lot of GREAT information about any aspect of trout fishing, from equipment to flies to fishing spots. Wading thru the BS is part of the fun. George "This is not Nam. This is bowling.
