Dutch Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 It has been a while since I have been down that way. I'd like to go on Friday. Is any of that area iced over? If so where and how thick? Would it be better to launch at River Run or Beaver Creek?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 16, 2013 Root Admin Posted January 16, 2013 I don't think there's any ice at all. But I have heard a good number of walleye from the dam down to Barker. Not sure if and how they're being caught though. Good luck.
ozarkgunner Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 The lake is Low! Watch out for shoals and do not run up to the dam. Angler At Law
Jeff Olson Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I was by there on Saturday, very low. you could put in fine at river run, but im not sure if you could get through that narrow spot about 100 ydrs downstream from the landing?
Dutch Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 Thanks for the info. I have clipped gravel a few times on that shoal in the past. I may just put in at Beaver Creek and fish around there. I don't really have a species in mind yet.
vonreed Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I was down around K dock today and there was some ice on the north facing banks, coming out maybe 20 feet or so in the shallow areas, but no ice in the deep water at all.

The channel runs through there and you'll be alright with caution. The channel there is across the lake from the RR ramp and it the turns to mid channel after it clears the bridge. It is to low to run to the dam, I suspect it starts getting pretty shallow about Silver Creek. Swan is approaching a trickle, to give you an idea. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
