Wayne SW/MO Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Simple fix, Renewal of Hunter Ed card with background check at age 18. Well first off not everyone is required to have a Hunter Safety card, not to mention that criminal records of minors are generally sealed. Why not a license to buy? No list of weapons or how many, but a serious effort to keep any information current so that a seller can enter a number and get a yes or no and seize. Put some serious time on misuse. Cross reference spouses, children, siblings etc.with a list generated medical and law enforcement. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Justin Spencer Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 You are right Wayne, has to be a real time background check to mean anything. That 18 year old might get a felony at age 19, or 29, or 50, or get a degenerative brain disease at age 55 that makes him crazy. Seems like a pretty straight forward solution that I can't for the life of me understand why people would be against. The only thing that would work against it, that I don't believe has been brought up would be the cost to create the data base, but this obviously isn't the reason people are agin it, and would be a bad reason anyway. Wayne SW/MO Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 When read within the context of the entire document, and in the context of the historical negotiations to put the document together, the purpose of the amendment was to allow for people within the militia to keep and bear arms, with the militia being under control of the states to maintain order and put down insurrections. Specifically, slave insurrections, which were fairly numerous in that time. The 2nd Amendment was a conceit to the Southern states to placate them since they were afraid that federal control would prevent them from having these militias to corral errant slaves and slave revolts that could potentially lead to the Federal government freeing said slaves (which it eventually did ---- remember, that wasn't a state's rights decision). Not buying that Jack. The amendment was one of the first and was aimed at the British experience. The militia was thought necessary because of revolution experience, which was fought primarily with militias finance by wealthy landowners. While they had experienced some uprisings they weren't a threat at that time. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Jack Jones Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Well that proves my point Wayne. Greedy wealthy landowners. Not common people necessarily. And even If what you say is true, what relevance does that have to us in 2013? It's not like we're going to attempt armed revolt against the US government. Ya the last sentance would be overturned by SCOTUS so fast it wouldnt be funny, plenty of case law about Doc Pat Conf that i think we will already see alot of the POTUS executive order challenged and shot down. Privacy especially medical is very touchy. Cross refferancing people that live with you, Ya that will be as well same reason. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

jdmidwest Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 I feel an X coming up, it's been a good conversation until we start shoving things up our butts, and thinning out poor black people because there are too many of them, doubt that's what you meant jd, but it's what it looked like. Once again it seems as if certain people can see both sides of the arguement and see needs for some, if not all changes, and then others can't even budge on things that would at least set a good example for attitudes changing in the future. The main thing these gun control talks do is make the conspiracy theorists panic and go buy up all the guns and ammo for a while. I bet if you asked the people that we percieve should be worried about gun control (the gun shop owners) they love when this comes up every few years because they make all kinds of money, and while they realize they may have more paperwork to do in the future, they will never be banned from selling firearms. Any one else thing Manti Teo was in on his hoax because he may not be in to women? Sorry, I did not see the black folk part, I thought it was just people in general. I am not a racist. I have just grown sick and tired of people coming up with numbers that seem to support their cause, did not read the fine print. And I thought JOED was going to shove it all up the anti gunners butt, I may have mistaken that too........ jdmidwest Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Take this as my complete personal opinion and not a jab. That's not my intention but I don't know of a way to say this without it sounding 'holier than thou.' In my opinion, when hunting game, you shouldn't need or take multiple consecutive shots in short order on any animal. If you need to rip off multiple shots at an animal, I don't think you should've shot at it in the first place. Realistically, if you shoot at say a deer, what are the odds that your second shot or shots thereafter are going to be a respectful hit on the animal? I treat squirrel's and small game the same way. I may hunt them with a 10/22 but my goal is one good, clean shot, I'm not going to rely on the fact that I can rip off 10. Again, this is just how I hunt and my view, no disrespect intended. What if you are hunting multiple animals? While prarie dog hunting, it is common to go thru several hundred rounds a day. That is where the AR and a 30 round mag comes in handy. For deer and other animals, 10 rounds in both the AR and my 10-22. Deer usually only take 1 shot most of the time, unless I decide to fill multiple tags, buck and doe, 2 does. Squirrels sometimes fall several at a time from the 10-22. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
jdmidwest Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 I really don't think the problems with the mental illness are the ones that forget stuff or have a stroke. It is schitzophrenia and other agressive split personality disorders that we have to worry about. Ones like the lady a few weeks ago that was getting her kicks pushing people in front of trains. And ones like the attack on Gabby Giffords, the movie theater, and the school. Violent mental illness is the issue. Surely the drugs to treat the individuals could be flagged in the system and the individuals on them could be blackballed to where they could not buy a firearm. The trouble is, the ACLU protects their rights to privacy and they do not show up in databases. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Justin Spencer Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Im just curious, WITHOUT LOOKING when was the constitution ADOPTED? no peeking Do you mean bill of rights that included the second amendment? I peeked a few weeks ago so I won't give that away.
