Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 12, 2006 Root Admin Posted November 12, 2006 I think we should pray for Dems and Reps- whoever makes the decisions now- cause they are going to need wisdom... far more than I have! I would say if politians- here or in Iraq- start making military decisions for our boys on the ground over there... they need to come home pronto!
Brian Sloss Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Crippled Caddis, Do you mean everything you just said? You have just stereotyped every muslim as an intolerant killer if they are devout. Would you want to be judged by the actions of the worst of your religion? I know I don't. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 12, 2006 Root Admin Posted November 12, 2006 This is getting interesting... or it's headed to fire throwing. When our pastor starts preaching and starts throwing around concepts and ideas in his owns words, I remind him his authority comes from the Word- so he should use the word to back his statements. I for one would like to be educated. I know alittle about Islam but am rusty. Tom, if you would, provide some scripture and writings to explain your position and Brian can follow with any research he has. Let's keep it a factual discussion.
Crippled Caddis Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Tom, if you would, provide some scripture and writings Quick quotes taken from the site listed at the bottom: War is ordained by Allah, and all Muslims must be willing to fight, whether they like it or not. 2:216 Allah will bestow a vast reward on those who fight in religious wars. 4:74 Have no unbelieving friends. Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them. 4:89 If the unbelievers do not offer you peace, kill them wherever you find them. Against such you are given clear warrant. 4:91 All non-Muslims will be rejected by Allah after they die. 3:85 Allah has cursed the Jews and hardened their hearts. Nearly all of them are treacherous. 5:12-13 Allah has stirred up enmity and hatred among Christians. 5:14 Christians are disbelievers for believing in the divinity of Christ. 5:17 Those who make war with Allah and his messenger will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. That is how they will be treated in this world, and in the next they will have an awful doom. 5:33 Don't take Jews or Christians for friends. If you do, then Allah will consider you to be one of them. 5:51 Christians are wrong about the Trinity. For that they will have a painful doom. 5:73 Don't let the disbelievers think they can escape. They are your enemy and the enemy of Allah. 8:59-60 A prophet may not take captives until he has made a slaughter in the land. 8:67 Slay the idolaters wherever you find them. 9:5 The "Religion of Truth" (Islam) must prevail, by force if necessary, over all other religions. 9:33 Believers must fight for Allah. They must kill and be killed , and are bound to do so by the Torah, Gospel, and Quran. But Allah will reward them for it. 9:111 The only true believers are those who believe in Allah and his messenger. 24:62 Allah will taunt Christians on the day of their doom, saying: Where are My partners whom ye imagined? 28:62-64 Those who oppose Islam will be slain with a fierce slaughter. 33:60-61 Non-muslims will be tormented forever in the Fire. Allah will not have any mercy on them. 41:24 Smite the necks of the disbelievers whenever you fight against them. Those who die fighting for Allah will be rewarded. 47:4 <http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/quran/index.html> "You need only reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in their struggle for independence." ---Charles Austin Beard
LostMyWife Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 First, to keep everything in proper prospective, I have 3 children, one is about to get her "Master of Divinity" and be an ordained minister. My oldest son is in his third year at Greenville Christian College, preparing for seminary. I write this so that you know that I am not anti-Christian. While the quotes above are very compelling, there are similar examples that can be taken from the bible. The Christian bible did not have a target like Islam. There are a few passages from the bible that read a bit on the harsh side, especially in the Old Testament. I have read the bible 3 times and the old testament 5 times. I was amazed at the level of destruction that God brought forth to destroy "false" religions. It could be said that it mimicked what was posted above. I would also have you look at the pain that was brought to Job in order to test his faith. Had you just taken specific passages from early verses in Job, you could get the wrong idea. But, having said that, I went to the website. Since I have not read the Quran, I went to some of the passages taken from the Bible. I was amazed at how many were paraphrased and taken out of context. They seemed to be twisted to make a point. Maybe some of the passages listed from the Quran were handled in the same manner. Maybe not, just something to think about. Yes, I'm That Guy
Wayne SW/MO Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I was born before we got into WWII and to try and make a comparison to it or any past war is an impossible exercise in misinformation. What we now have is a swarm of armchair generals who can't guarantee the outcome of a football game, but feel they are qualified to criticize and critique a war effort. The reality is that the setbacks in this war don't compare to Pearl, Tarawa, Chosen, The Tet, and thats just a few that quickly come to mind. The one thing that does come to mind is that while the public during WWII got their war news from news reels and newspapers and the quality was dependent on luck of location, now there is so much information much of it has degraded into opinion, rather than news. If we're going to keep this country safe we have to let those with the skill and intelligence fight the wars, not reporters, politicians, or aunts and uncles. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
MTM Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I go to the VA Hospital about two times a month. I talk to the returning troops and they say that pulling out is not an option. Everyone of them I have talked to (and that is quit a few) say that we can win over there and if we cut and run we will lose more than most people can aford to lose. This is there opinion not mine. I also feel that if we leave without some type of win we will lose people in our armed services. Why join something that losess all the time. These young people have given a lot for all of us and we had best listen to them or we may lose there trust in "We The People" Ron
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 13, 2006 Root Admin Posted November 13, 2006 I was amazed at the level of destruction that God brought forth to destroy "false" religions. What were these false religions and what exactly were the people doing? Thanks Wayne. and Ron.
Kicknbass Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 This war/occupation has lasted longer than our involvement in WW2 Really, when did the US close the bases in Germany and Japan? " Too many hobbies to work" - "Must work to eat and play"
