West Fork Jason Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I'm a little bummed with Cabela's customer support and product knowledge at the moment. I stopped at their store in Hoffman Estates on the way down to Arkansas a few weeks ago to purchase a transducer for my Lowrance unit. While hooking it up before heading out to Beaver, I discovered they had sold me a transducer that does not support down scan imaging. Having no interest in blind casting for stripers, I headed home a few days early. All the local stores in NWA, and even the Cabela's in Rogers said the correct transducer was a special order item. I should know better about going on a long trip with un-tested equipment, but still. Cabela's should know what the @#$% they are selling and how it works. And yes, they are a little pricey except if you can luck into something (I got some RIO MOW tips for a steal...) @ the bargain cave. Just curious, did any of you guys move some fish when it was in the 70's earlier this week? http://www.WestForkJason.com

Employee ignorance= crappy service They really have no clue and that falls on Cabelas for not properly training their people or hiring people that know the industry. Not clerks from Sears
Stump bumper Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I refuse to even enter the store after being turned down for employment then happened into one of the guys that got the job I wanted. I had 22 years in the Army and a very successful career he had two years in the National Guard and said it was his Military Experience that got him hired. 22 years of service never even a traffic ticket on my record and I get a letter asking me not to apply again!!! Call it sour grapes or what ever I wouldn't go into that store if they were giving away everything.........

Probably boiled down to the company wanting to pay someone less money for the same job. It's a corporate perspective. The don't realize the value they could receive by paying someone a little more for the same job. It's ALL about cost these days. I've been in that store twice since it opened. Wasn't really impressed the 1st time, even less impressed the 2nd. Everything in there seemed about 10-20% higher than it should be. If I go back in there again, it will be to get some roasted nuts at the snackbar. That's about it. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
exiledguide Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded, Yogi Berra. Sorry , I don't know why that poped into my mind but bring as you guys were talking about Yogi, I heard one at the broadcast of Stan's funeral Yogi said he always went to friends funerals because if he didn't, they would not come to his.
BredMan Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I will say one thing on Cabela's behalf, if you watch the online Bargain Cave listing frequently you will often find new products as well regular products listed at some pretty ridiculous low prices. I seldom purchase anything at face value from Cabela's. I work their system with their coupons, customer appreciation discounts, free shipping offers, etc. I have saved a lot of $$$$ doing so and got what I wanted and not just something being discontinued. Customer service has always been very good as well. This past Fall they offered free shipping on anything for card holders up to Dec 31. Knowing that was a marketing strategy to energize card sales it was also one heck of a benefit for the card holders.
