jdelow77 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I'm waiting on my dad to tell me the fish are moving , because he fishes a few times a week and is a freaking crappie slayer !!!! Only problem is he lives in Nashville ( AR ) so it's a 4 hour drive but always worth it ...
npierceuark Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 Found some crappie yesterday, finally found some keepers. Caught over 30 total with the largest still under 13 but I had 7-8 that went over 11. Had a few little bonus fish tossed in there as well
Quillback Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Looking at those pics, I'm visualizing fried crappie fillets - very tasty!
jdelow77 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Nice fish there , I'm going in a few hours no idea where but, i gotta get out ...
Members mouthfulloflake Posted March 4, 2013 Members Posted March 4, 2013 Npierceuark, did you catch those in the white, north of Blue springs again? what bait? I took my son to Beaver yesterday, caught nothing, we didnt even see a fish.
npierceuark Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 I caught fish from blue springs ramp up to twin bridges both sat and sun. They were keyed in on transition areas that held cover between 10-15 fow. Any where that the bottom went from rock to mud or bluff to rocks seemed to produce fish, now toss in a stump or two and it was almost a guaranteed bite. Sat the bite was slower, fished a black and chartreuse tube 5' deep under a bobber and did well. Sunday I fished a small shallow diving shad crank and white curly tail grubs and kept them around 2-3 feet deep and produced some pretty aggressive bites. small tubes also worked sunday as well. Today should be good with the sun, wish I wasn't sitting at a desk. haha good luck
Members mouthfulloflake Posted March 4, 2013 Members Posted March 4, 2013 Hey thanks! I havent really fished much in the last 15 years, so im trying to get my groove back. I was throwing a shiney hiney ( black and cartruse) under a float yesterday, only 2-3 feet deep though. btw, I work for the U, thanks for the tips.
jdelow77 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Why is it all the baitshops around here are closed?
Members MadRussian Posted March 7, 2013 Members Posted March 7, 2013 Where are you guys launching on the white? Is there enough water to launch a flat bottom at Beaverrama or Twin bridges right now. or is the blue springs ramp and the ramp across the river by Bryce's it for the white? Also where are you guys getting your minnows right now in that area? Southtown is the only place I can think of at this time of year and its not really in that area.
npierceuark Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 I've seen some guys launch at beavorama but 4wd may be needed. I live in fayetteville so southtown is where i get mine. Not sure where else near there would have any. Should be a good warm weekend, hopefully the fish are biting.
