mixermarkb Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Finished 7th or 8th in the Winter Bass-O-Thon yesterday on Bull. We had 8-10 keepers, ended with 4 largemouths and 1 15" football Kentucky. Had a 4 pound LM, that had no belly on it at all yet, huge head, but skinny. As a guy driving in from St. Louis fishing against a bunch of really tough locals, I was pretty proud of what we caught. I stayed with a wart most of the day, Dan fished jerkbaits from the back deck. Took 20+ to win, falling off to 16 and change for 2nd place. We had 12.8 for our 5. And yes the wind had a bite to it all day...
duckydoty Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Rough day to fish yesterday. I stayed in and tied flies all day. Sounds like you had a pretty good day out there battling the elements. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
mixermarkb Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 The weather for sure didn't get to the temps weather.com predicted. Still though, the fishes were biting. We found our fish in the back 1/3 of creeks, on steeper chunk rock banks. Boat in 12ish feet of water, running cranks parallel to the bank. Best couple of LM's came off of isolated wood on those same kind of banks.
Members abbfish Posted February 11, 2013 Members Posted February 11, 2013 Thanks for the post. I'd be proud of that too. I'm heading down that way this weekend from STL, so I hope to get out some.
