Q: Are you guys using these BIG worms on Table Rock Lake ???

Big worms work better at TR than folks let on, especially in the post spawn. Big, as in 12" or longer, straight tail, paddle tail, or long ribbon. Try them on a big football shakey head. Pole timber or brush piles coming out of spawn areas (going back out to the main lake/river channel). Looks crazy, especially if you normally throw the small stuff, but they have their place in late May/June.

I used to throw a lot of big 10-12" Culprit worms...red shad most of the time and most of the time at night. For some reason I have kinda gotten away from that and throw a big jig more often now...BUT I now have some YUM Pumkin'Eds standup jigs with 10" YUM MightEE worms that are basically a gigantic shakey head with a lot of bulk and I plan on throwing this a lot more this year. Will see what happens on size of fish that attack it.

Down sizing is generally the key to more bites on TR (thus my Ned Rig affectation), but the big stuff has its place, just not as frequently.

If the lake ever comes back up, wait for May/June, find some state brush piles on gravel flats/points and throw a 12"-15" worm on a big shakey head into them. Not always a lot of bites, but some good ones. Lot of the good spots for it will be dry or close to it right now (reading between the lines...you don't need 30' of water over the brush). Usual summer colors, w'melon red, plum.

By the Hillbilly Bowl and Rapid Roberts across from Harter House. Rich Gamble owns it, used to be Jerry Snider's shop.
