I'm surprised, after all these years of forum jargon, this hasn't come up. Or may be it has and I missed it.

I'm going to start a new topic under General Fishing Discussion and see if we can get more comments and, more than that, get the word out about what exactly possession limits are and how to stay legal.

That's a great article - thanks for finding it.

Who on here has written full name, address, permit number on their fish?(I bet everyone one is gonna chime in saying i do).Guess im gonna have to change storage tactics this year cause i have to clean all the fish for 2 adults and 3 kids.I have never taken a small fish and never taken more than i was supposed to but i have never written my address and permit# on fish in my freezer. When we have enough to feed everyone then we have a fishfry.Fact is,if we go out and all of us catch some bass, walleye, crappie, and catfish, that would be 4 containers for 5 people.20 containers for 1 day!And that dont count if we get into a mess of bluegill. We use the square tupperware bowls that have a lock on each side of the lid so they dont bow and pop the lid off when they freeze. That is gonna be alot of containers for evertime we all go fish.My dad is a very honest person, but growing up i never saw his name, address, permit # on his fish containers in the freezer. There is probably more lawbreakers in these forums than one could imagine.Note to self-Buy huge freezer/alot of tupperware/and a label maker(cause the old lady will kill me if i write all that info on her tupperware)and 5 coolers for the days that all five of us go fishing. As of right now we have no fish in the freezer to eat.God i have to get the boat finished so i can go fishing.

I think you are right.... not many do. I don't. I will though.

Yea if you keep a lot of fish, different species, multiple family members, that would run you in to some complicated storage issues! And costly!!

Tight line I learned alot from jimmie but most of the fishing techniques I have learned on my own. I am just as good a bass fisherman as I am a crappie fisherman. Bass fishing is my passion but I can give a piece of advice that helps me every year and that is to keep a fishing journal of everyday you go fishing put in it the date the type of day cold or warm water temp where you caught the fish what on and structure and depth they were caught in I keep a journal and I right in it every time i go fishing and then the next year when i get ready to go I can look up for feb or what ever month it was in my journal and see what and where i caught fish at the year before and it gives me a good starting place yeah the granted the fishing might not be the same but it has worked for me alot and has payed off for me when I have fished some tournaments and have won tournaments because of the little book I right in every time I go fishing.

Josh,i have 2 journals that span from 1980 to 2000 , mostly bass fishing, but alot of crappie and white bass fishing too ,its really cool to look back and see just how good it use to be and the different lures we use to use.

20 years from now you'll really enjoy looking back and reading about the good ole days.

I just wish I would've wrote down more of the really bad days fishing too there would've been alot more to read though, also there were a few years I didn't keep track of much, got lazy I guess.

I wonder if there's a market for publishing a journal like these? Or putting several together...

Well it was a good day with too many people on the water we caught our limits with fighting with the boat lol. I had to get a little crappy with a couple ole boys that were idiots flying by me full speed with a 100 boats around needless to say he got followed and herd some few choice words about his actions and whats bad is I'm pretty easy going guy but he just struck a nerv he got smart with me and said something about kicken my but till I told him to get on the bank so I could beat the brakes off him then he was alot nicer lol. It all boils down to haveing respect for all the other boats and fisherman. I don't put up with idiots or their crap.

I gotta agree with that! Nice out there today, but there were to many people. One boat got a jig and slider across the whole boat and across his lap in the process. Needless to say we got sick of people going in front of us idling by when there was 100 yards of open water behind us. We had we ended up with 25 keepers with only about 5 shorts and a bass. I think the word is definitely out on the crappie!

Josh - come to Taney on a weekend... that's common practice!
