Quillback Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Got to fish out of Jeb's boat today, it was a cold, windy, and cloudy day, but surprising to me, the bass were somewhat cooperative. We fished about 6 hours and boated around 15 bass, a mix of spots and LM's. Jeb seriously outfished me today, he got a dozen or so and I got 3. He also had big fish honors with a 3.5 lb. LM. Best bite was on a 5/16 oz finesse jig, Wiggle Wart boated a couple, tubes a couple, one on a jerkbait and one on the A-rig. Most of our fish came from 2 locations, a chunk rock bank with a moderate drop to 13' and a point/cove mouth near a channel swing. Saw a shad die off going on in a cove off the main channel, we fished that area hard but only one fish came from there. Lots of happy terns scooping up an easy meal. Water temps were just shy of 41 degrees.
Bill Babler Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 You all are my heros. Anyone that was on the water today gets a tip of my cap. I am just dying here at the house, but that wind and cold won't let me out the door. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Quillback Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Bill, you're a smart man, it was the coldest day I've fished this winter, and after today, I'll be really happy when it warms up around here. We weren't the only ones out there either, probably saw 1/2 dozen or so bass boats.
jeb Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Yeah, a lot more boat traffic that either of us expected. Is there a tourney coming up? It was nice to finally see a shad die off. We've had some great fishing on Beaver and TR when the shad kill kicks in. So maybe we'll finally get the big fish bite going on. I wore a LOT of clothes today. Thought I was over dressed on the way to the lake, but I was darn glad I had it all on. I lived in MN for 35 years, and I moved south because of the cold up there. So I like to be warm when it's cold out now. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Bill Babler Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 OMTT Saturday and then an Anglers in Action on Sunday. The lake in front of my place is just full of boats and fisherman. It iis 31 degrees and a North Wind. At one point today I had my eye on 11 boats at one time. Burr!!!! http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
jeb Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Burr is right. I was on Beaver yesterday for 3 hours. Not a fun day, colder than the day before on TR, so the ice was forming in the guides the whole time. Not much fun. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
