ozark trout fisher Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 2. Mizzou Arena will not be sold out. Guarantee you will see many empty seats in the lower bowl. Oh, I think it will be sold out.LSU on Saturday was a packed house and a great atmosphere (I was there...) I think technically it was about 800 tickets short of a sell-out, but it felt like one. And the Arkansas game should be on an entirely different level. Wish I could be there. It see what you mean though. Early in the season, we did have quite a bit of trouble getting great crowds. Some of our first few conference games felt like they were November games against cupcakes, given the atmosphere (or lack there of.) People just didn't know anything about Auburn or South Carolina or Georgia so it was a tough ticket to sell. That said, ever since the Ole Miss game, it has been completely different. I think that was when Missouri started to fall to the tournament bubble so there was a bit more urgency amongst both players and fans. And ever since then the home games might as well have been against Oklahoma State or Texas or any of our other old Big 12 rivals. The Florida game might as well have been Kansas 2012, based on the atmosphere. I expect more of the same against Arkansas on senior night. Arkansas may not be a rival yet but we are well on our way to that point already.
ozark trout fisher Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Of course, on a nationally televised home game our shot clock would be broken before the game, and we would have an ESPN announcer (Jimmy Dykes) up on a ladder trying to fix it. That is so like Mizzou:)
Al Agnew Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Well, the first part of my prediction came true. And if they can play to that level at Tennessee the second part will come true, too. They gave up a few too many open threes--in the first half, AR couldn't buy a three, but in the second half they hit a few. Pressey had only two plays where I was shouting at the TV screen at his stupidity. Even though he had several turnovers in the first half, on a couple of them he was fouled and it wasn't called. More importantly, in this game they played great team defense most of the time, they were beasts on the boards, and they played great team offense, too. I think they are beginning to peak at the right time. Hoping for good things at Tennessee.
stlfisher Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 apparantly what set haith off was when anderson called a timeout after pressey's 3 and said to pressey, " i will give you that shot all night". considering the relationship anderson has with the pressey family it is not really a big deal imo, but not the best time to get cute either. even if he was kidding around. i like haith sticking up for his guys though. Pretty sure this is gonna be a lively rivalry for years to come...
