I am bringing my grandson this year for my annual early crappie trip. I have been coming to the lake for this for about 15 years with my son. This year granpa told the little guy he could come to if he kept his grades up and flew right. Well guess what ,the little **** went and did it.I didnt think he could. He is 10 , and loves to fish, but around here crappie are like small. blugill. I pretty sure i can get him into some good crappie and hope he has is pole tied to him and life jacket snugged when we hit the white bass. What i would like to do is put him on a couple of eyes. I dont know anything about them on TR even though i have caught a couple. Any suggestions on where to take him? I will be way up the Kings but not oposed to pulling out to put in somewhere for a day roadtrip. Viney, Eagle Rock, and up Roaring River. Will be down there easter week. Any info would be appreciated. Dont know weather this oppurtunity will happen again. Thanks in advance, Tim

I do not fish the Kings. On the upper White, early, jigs with minnows fished at the upper end of deeper holes downstream of islands, reefs, points are what produces the walleye.I hope your grandson enjoys his trip. I am now 50 years plus from those first few trips that hooked me for life.

I can't offer any info for table rock but in the upper end of beaver I've had some success with white marabou jigs. Pjs finese baits makes the ones we use. And as for fishing with your grandson the best fishing memories I have by far are fishing with grandpa. I'd give up all my biggest fish and then some to catch one more

With my grandpa. I hope yall can get on them.

trytofish,

Just keep your eyes on this board up until the moment you leave for your trip with your grandson and maybe post again with questions on a particular area of the lake you are wanting to fish. Guys here are always giving good advice, info and what currently is going on on Table Rock. I don't want to dissuade you from trying to go after Walleye but they are not easy to come by on Table Rock and trolling around for 4 hours and be lucky to catch 2 or 3 might not be the best way to keep the 10 year old interested. The gentlemen above with the first post is just about the foremost authority on walleyes on Table Rock (and this forum) and he works his tail off just to catch a handful. If you want walleye he is the man to ask questions and he leaves no stone un-turned when divulging invaluable info right down to specific areas, baits, presentation and even trolling speed to the 1/10th of a MPH. RPS is just an awesome member here. Don't know when you are coming but the crappie should be going pretty good and the whites should be running the rivers soon. Like I said keep an eye on these boards and good luck with your grandson, they are lasting memories as my grandfather is the one who taught me just about everything I know about fishing and got me addicted to this amazing outdoor sport.

Lots of great info above; and I know this has been mentioned before.......but it may be worth seriously considering hiring a great guide from the boards here, for a few hours.

Take it from someone who fished the Rock for years; and always scoffed at the idea of hiring a guide. Until my stubborn side gave way to my more realistic side; and I'm glad it did!.......wished I would have done it years prior and saved myself countless hours/days of struggling on the water. It really may be a great idea with the little guy with you!:-)
