Ham Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Fished from 0700-1830 yesterday with Cajun Angler. We started on main lake points and worked our way back looking for bass. Water temps were around 42 degrees and rose to around 44 degrees. We got more wind and less sun than I was hoping for. The forecast mid 60's did not happen and the wind blowing off the water was chilly. It was slower going than I had hoped for, but we did catch fish and learned a little more about this area. The bites we got were light. Most of our bass only had one hook in them. The fish hit on the pause EVERYTIME. We had some nice fish, but I sure would have liked more of them. We caught 13 fish combined. We caught them mostly on jerk baits, but we had two wart fish and one jig fish. I lost a bass that I think was over five, but I didn't have her on long. Today might be much better. The extra warmth from the rising temps and sunlight could really spark a good bite today. Our best area was one a channel swing halfway back a feeder creek not too far from a spawning flat. They are further along than I expected. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Members Col Ron Posted March 9, 2013 Members Posted March 9, 2013 I was out there yesterday also with two clients, yes, it was cold with that dang wind. After two hours and spotting my targeted fish at 52 feet, we hauled our butts out of their and went fly fishing. Had a great late morning/ afternoon on the river with 5 Browns, many spawning large Rainbows. My hat is off to you for putting up with the windy, cold conditions. They had a few bites down deep, too be honest with you, their hands were to numb to feel the slow pull.
Ham Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 I had high hopes for an accidental walleye or two, but no soap. I was surprised by ZERO bites on the a rig. We gave it a good chance off an on all day. We would been better served to throw nothing but jerk baits all day. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
