Members Haulin Bass Posted March 14, 2013 Members Posted March 14, 2013 We were going to Aldridge last weekend, and were told at the bait shop "Aldridge was all but closed". He said you needed a flat bottom boat to fish up in there. So we ended up at the State Park Marina, unfortunately, it was too windy to get into the main channel, and besides, we were all geared up for Crappie. Can I get in and out of GREENFIELD ACCESS? Is it too shallow to drop in there too? I like to head up near Crider's Creek, but that is a long haul if the water is dangerously low. Any word there???? Planning on going Saturday AM! Anybody? P.S. we caught several Kentucky Bass in the Marina. (* Not bad for a change of plans.)
Members bigshow Posted March 15, 2013 Members Posted March 15, 2013 We launched at Greenfield access last weekend....where it splits to go up turnback or sac it was only about 5' deep...I believe the water has come up at least a foot since then....fishing was SLOW...
Members Haulin Bass Posted March 15, 2013 Author Members Posted March 15, 2013 WOOHOO, I'm going! I have some Crappie Spots I have been dying to get into. Not necessarily to catch fish tomorrow, but I know the Crappie will be there all through April. P.S. STOCKTON WILL NOT BE COMING UP ANY BECAUSE THE ARE PUTTING IN AN EXTRA TURBINE AT THE DAM! WATER LEVEL WILL BE WHERE IT IS NOW FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS!
smbasser Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I called the core and they denied the rumors about the extra turbine and said they have had a lot of calls concerning it. Anyone know the truth??
straw hat Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 What the heck? I just read about it on their Corp Stockton web site!! They said the changeout would take 18 to 24 months! Our government at its best. lol
Members RiverFisher5944 Posted March 16, 2013 Members Posted March 16, 2013 The corps is not putting in an extra turbine they are replacing the old one and it will take a year to year and a half to complete. The water level will not be affected other than what is being affected by mother nature. The corps will only let water out if and when the lake goes into flood stage. The rumors about the corps keeping the lake low due to the construction are false. The turbine will be inoperable during this time meaning no generation but the flood gates will open if the lake goes into flood stage over elevation 867, and the fishing is usually great below the dam when the flood gates are opened.
