hoglaw Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 On NOAA, I'm reading a total possible 7" over the next 48 hours. That's going to be epic if it happens. On the bright side, they'll be running a lot of water out of Bull Shoals later this summer. About the coolest fishing situation in the state is 8 units in August.
Feathers and Fins Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 7'' I want what he is drinking.... Oh what am I saying I got me some 50yr old Jack. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Guest Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 So far 2" has fallen across Elkins and south Fayetteville. That will cause a small rise. If it rains 3 times that much Friday night, then anything's possible. 3"-5" expected in the next 36 hours. That's enough to make them get real nervous. Beaver could reach 1130, if we get 5"+ of rain in a short span. The heaviest rain would need to be just south of the lake. The big flood in 2011 was preceded by the Joplin twister.
Quillback Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Looks like it could be another wild ride this afternoon and tonight. The weather guy last night was saying 5 -8" of rain are possible.
kjackson Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I launched at Dam Site Park this morning and was surprised to see how high the lake is. There was at least one campsite in the lake and one spot in the campground where the road runs into the lake. There was a decent topwater bite early on Redfins and even later it wasn't too bad. However, work and the wind pulled me off the lake before I wanted to leave. Another surprise for me was the number of smallies I caught--probably a third if not a half were smallmouth. Did not catch a striper nor see one caught. I had one large something come up by the boat, but it didn't want to play.
Guest Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Torcon rating of 5 tonight for our area. It's going to be a long night again. We ordered a storm cellar today. There's no safe place in our home. The shelter can't get here soon enough. I should have planned better. I could convert a 20' shipping container into a storm shelter and bury for less than what I'm about to pay.
