Wife & I are coming down down toTR this summer and we are looking at fish hook resort. Anyone have any input on the place. We'll pull the boat down and dump it in for 10 days. We have stayed at a place way up the James and another place way up the White. We have never stayed so far down lake. Fish Hook is right around point 7. Always have been told that the fishing sucks in september, but we like that time of year. Less crowds & a little cooler. THANKS, Bob.

Richard (Fish Hook) used to fish with our local club in Leavenworth. Good people, nice place to stay. Kind of a long drive down DD is the only real drawback, but not any worse than getting to the James off 76, or way back towards Aunts or Joe Bald. Might want to jump on it, they tend to book pretty solid. Lot of the Leavenworth guys stay there when they are down for club or money derbies.

September can be very good, if ...

Check Babler's posts. At that time of the year, you may need to learn to fish vertically - drop shot or spoon. I had a great August and September last year, but it was all up and down fishing.

BTW, have a great time!

Rodmaker, take a look at mid-lake if you are already not booked in. Sepetember can be hard on the Rock, but there are days that you can really have a great time providing the weather is just not stiffling. September here can be extremely HOT. If you can, put it as close to October as you can get. This is still a ski and wakeboat lake till the middle of October.

I always sound like a Chamber of Commerece person for Shell Knob, but they have some of the best fishing resorts on the lake that are within easy reach of either Kimberling city by water or Eagle Rock. It is right in the nice cozy middle.

One of my favorite Resorts with a fantastic Dock and launch by the dock, and perhaps the nicest lodging on the lake other than Big Cedar is Indian Hills out of Shell Knob. 15 minutes to Shell Knob for Dining or Shopping great grocery store., or 30 minutes from Eureka Springs or Berryville.

There is always a good topwater bite out in front of the resort in September early and late.

Good Luck
