Drbucketmouth57 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 How many people would like to see the Missouri Department of Conservation add hybrid bass and white bass to the population of Mark Twain lake?
Riverwhy Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Mark Twain has a good white bass population already.
Members parsonsles87 Posted March 21, 2013 Members Posted March 21, 2013 i would love to see hybrids in every lake in missouri. they would reach giant sizes in the taneycomo
Members NickIL Posted March 21, 2013 Members Posted March 21, 2013 As Riverwhy said, the white bass population at MT provides a great alternative to the fine bass and crappie fishing.
MoSportsmen Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I like to see and catch Hybrids. They have stocked a bunch in my local lake Long Branch. They stocked them with the goal of reducing crappie numbers because the crappie were over populated and stunted small. So far it is looking like it is working. The crappie are getting bigger and there are some nice evening swarms of hybrids to chase and catch. We will have to see how this works out in a few years after the hybrids grow to leagle size. I have already heard of guys that used to be able to throw a cast net for bait anywhere near the ramp and catch all the bait they wanted........no longer can thay do that. Messing about in boats
fishinwrench Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Long Branch seems like it would be a good candidate for Muskie. That'd keep those crappie in check too.
MoSportsmen Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Don't know about Muskie in LB seems like it is too often muddy for Muskie. The waleye have done OK in it though in years gone by. Don't know if there has been any recient waleye stockings. Mark Twain used to have some great Walleye seems like they have faded into obscurity there though also. Messing about in boats
fishinwrench Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Shows how much I know about muskie. I didn't know that they couldn't cope with off-colored water.
countryred Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Tons of whites in Twain, but it doesn't need any more predators. There are some mega walleyes still there, Just not alot of people targeting them.
