Members go4ducks2 Posted March 23, 2013 Members Posted March 23, 2013 Got down to Maramec around 10:00am(slept in) snowing pretty good, temp was around 34, not many people. I was fly fishing so I caught most of my fish on #8 White Woolly Booger with flash and Peach eggs. Tried black everything with the stained water but white seemed to be the ticket. The fairywand fishermen were catching plenty of limits with that cheese stuff they use Only seen 4 fly rods including mine. Water was UP and moving with lots of color, visibility was about 6 inches.....lot of stockers being caught. Biggest fish was 3lb. rainbow, you'll just have to believe that cause I don't take many pictures unless its a hog. Only second time I've ever been there and now I remember why, but great place to take a kid cause you don't need waders just bring lots of PowerBait and CHEESE.....everybody caught fish!! 5 bucks to get through the gate and 3 bucks to fish...just sayin' Nothin' wrong with fairywand, I have one, thats just what I call them.
duckydoty Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I like the report. LOL! Have not been there since 98 or 99. I'm sure things have not changed much. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Seth Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 duckydoty, you ain't missing much especially when you are right by Taneycomo! The only reason I fish at Meramec is becauase it's so close.

Gave up on Meramec Spring a few years ago, just not my cup of tea.
duckydoty Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Back in the 80's and early 90's, I always preferred Montauk. For some reason, Bennet seemed like a further drive from STL. Then I found Taney and got tired of driving 4 to 4 1/2 hours to go fish, so I just moved down here. Now if I fish a trout park, it is usually Roaring River.
