Local Lakes? (Ft. Smith, Weddington, Elmdale, Tj House, Crystal Lake)

I have been on Wedington a couple of times in the past few days. I have never seen it so murky. Visibility was less than two feet. Maybe the lack of sunlight will stifle some of the weeds. We caught a few bream and one decent crappie.

I am thinking Beaver is still too murky on this end to fish, besides being unusually high.

I called Lake Fayetteville today to check on a fishing report and got an answering machine. I was hoping to hear some good news in case I can get the kids out for some brim fishing this weekend. I know the water is high and it's probably murky there but I'm thinking the bite should be increasing soon.

We have placed fish attractors in Lake Elmdale and Crystal Lake the last couple of years. I have attached some maps of the GPS coordinates to these fish habitat structures. We also have some GPS coordinates for fish habitat on Bob Kidd Lake that I will get updated soon. Many of the lakes in NWA have lots of largemouth bass. We collected around 300 largemouth bass in 1 hour of electrofishing on Crystal Lake this spring.

Wow, I've looked at Crystal but never fished it. It's so small I thought it would get fished out by too much pressure, but sounds like it has a good bass population.

We do not fertilze Crystal Lake because it is a very productive lake. Some of the smaller lakes in NWA experienced filamentous algae problems this spring. We will keep an eye on them and may need to do some vegetation control.

Definately need the AGFC patrolling these smaller lakes on weekends. Rumors of cast nets and not releasing illegal catches are rampant. That destroys a great fishery.

So glad to see such effort on these lakes in NWA so the younger generation can enjoy and continue to sport.

I would be worried about those problems over the moss or grass. Leatherwood is a good Lake and it's full of grass.

Good looking maps.

Do you have a list of small public lakes with those habitats marked?
