ten_scoach Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Taking my uncle from out of state for first time to SW mo. Looking to put in at River run Park at 76 bridge. Wanting to get on some white's. I typically fish stockton and pomme but thought we would try a new lake. Any direction to get started to find some fish would be appreciated. We fished flatt creek today. Picked up several crappie on pearl sliders with pink heads trolling in 10 fow. Thanks in advance.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Head down a couple miles to beaver creek...With these warm days and nights I bet Sunday will be a great day there, prob more numbers in beaver right now than river run....there will be a million people but it's worth it
ten_scoach Posted April 6, 2013 Author Posted April 6, 2013 Thanks for the help. I imagine a lot of folks will be out and about. We'll give it a go. Maybe we'll just put in at beaver instead then. Sounds like a great place to start.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Beaver is a great start. You can go either way from there, heard of some nice walleye being caught also, mostly be accident when fishing for whites, that's a great accident to have. Good luck, we've been using 1/4 oz white vibric rooster tails and firecracker color swimming minnows on a 1/4 oz roadrunner head. Talk to other guys that caught more than me and they were using 1/8 oz jig heads with a white slider. Honestly if ya find a school you could prob throw a teddy bear at them and they would eat it.... But that's what I've used and that's what I've heard
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Beaver is right. I was at River Run area yesterday and it was dead. They were running water, but I suspect that because they haven't run much lately the fish just aren't drawn up there. White sliders are another choice that always seems to work. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
