jolicious Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Hey everyone, I'm taking a buddy from work along with his son out to the lake tomorrow for a couple of hours after work. I am hoping some of you can lend a little advice on the whites? I've read the posts, and looks like there are some good times to be had with the whites running, but I'm a little confused (nothing new there!!): "Walker Bluff" - Where is that? 412 Launch - Has anyone lauched at 412 lately and run towards either Blue Springs or Neil's Bluff? If so, are the whites that direction yet? We live in Sonora, so if the whites are close to Blue Springs, that would obviously give the most fishing time. Are y'all throwing rattle traps - has anyone tried an A-Rig for whites? My son caught a few whites (and a couple NICE Crappie) on a dang Megabass jerk bait a couple weeks ago. But, the young man I'm taking tomorrow (my buddy's son) is only 8, and I don't really feel good about turning him loose with a megabass oneteen just yet :-) Any tidbits, or advice on direction ot try tomorrow between 5:00 and dark is greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch, Joe.
Bill Babler Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Wow!! Please post how this works out. It is suspose to get into the upper 20's here tonight. There is a heavy freeze warning for Rogers with a high tomorrow of low 50's. If you can put an 8 yr. old on anything tomorrow, I am going to be more than impressed. Right at dark, those whites might take off their long jons and bite a little, but I'm going to be suprised if its just not a bugger. If you have a brush pile or two and a crappie minnow, that might be more than a good bet. Wishing you the best of luck with the youngster. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Might end up me, my work buddy, and...... the 8 year old on the phone checking on us from the house lol!!!
npierceuark Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 The water is still in the mid 50's up the white but I'm sure the fish have slowed down a bit. You can put in at 412 and cruise a long ways up, saw a guy with a 200 up by twin bridges this weekend and the water is higher now than what is was then. I would recommend going up as far as you can. I have seen and heard of some fish by neil's but not in as big of numbers as what we've been getting into up by twin. We've been catching them on black and gold rooster tails and chartreuse and pink curly tail jigs, fish them as low and as slow as possible. There are some crappie up that way as well, any decent brush pile or stick up in 10 fow should hold some.

jolicious Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 Well, the little man hung in with us (wasn't terribly cold) Friday! We ended up running to Neil's Bluff for a couple of hours and worked our way back towards 412 bridge. Didn't catch but a couple little ones, but saw something I hadn't seen before - Carp (I think?) jumping completely out of the water? Straight up in the air, then would fall back into the water tail first (like straight up, then straight down). 24"-30" fish with a maroon back - I guess it was carp? several hundred of them in one little chute on the left before you get to Neil's Bluff.
