Really for the most part have struggled the past few days under bright high skys and falling temps, both air and water. Today that was not the case, today was a fish day.

60 degree, warm rain and a bit of a breeze on a very cloudy overcast day in April. Those are days you can catch them and we did.

Had Don and Rochelle from Buckner, Mo today and fine fishing couple with today being Rochelle's B-day and her present was a day on the Rock. She took full advantage and caught them like she owned them.

Don kind of overshadowed her abit being our fish finder. If he would catch one quick on a location, we knew we would have it working.

We fished Tubes, Grubs and Flukes and all caught fish, with the grub being the best deal. Most of our fish were in the 15 to 18 foot range on chunk rock gravel mix getting ready to do the deal. Numbers were large and the fish were too.

Fished point 2 to point 5 and really only fished 4 or 5 locations, keeping the boat in 30 feet and catching them 1/2 way back between boat and bank.

Truly one of those good days for some great KC area folks.

Something familiar about that rig in the last pic...

They ate the Ned up around 13 today. Eleven keepers, mostly smallmouth with a couple blacks. 50-ish total with lots of solid shorts. They are getting going. Keepers were cookie cutters, 16-17" solid bucks. Have an idea where mama is, but she seems to not want to play so far.

Much shallower with the weather. Saw lots of folks fishing too deep, almost all of them too fast. Don't get in a hurry and you will stick some.

It was fun catching those fish on the Rig. Great seeing you at the diner Dave.

Likewise. Couple days left. Very casual effort today. True fun fishing. All 3 bass, gogs, maybe 4-5 keeps with 30 plus, all on the little rig. A good day shared with a friend who has to head back to TX.

it was a tough day for the boys that fished the dam today. Buster said after the sun hit the water they got really fussy. Said he looked down at one loctation across from the dam and saw 3 bass swimming on the bottom in 36 ft. That my friends is clear water.

Beck said it was as clear as he has ever seen it. Some locations from Kimberling City to Long Creek at 40 ft.+ of visibility

I fished out of Baxter this morning with Howard and we did just fine. Not tons of fish but the bite was constant with some nice smallmouth.

I will second the difficulty with the high skies and clear water. Not a great stick, but couldnt buy a bite in indian point area after heading out mid morning. For this flatlander, its absolutely mindboggling to see 20in, let alone 20+ft deep. Setting sun turned em back on. Shakey w/ green pumpkin was the deal for spots and brown bass... all shorts, 15ft or less. Will take it after this AM. Actually looking foreward to the fowl weather forecasted for the end of the week.

Was down saturday across from the state park and even with rain dimpling the water I was sitting in 18' fow and could see the individual pebbles on the bottom. I was also astonished at the numbers of fish we saw. Lots of smaller males waiting for a few warm days. Didn't catch any size in the 3 hours I was down but #'s were not a problem. I don't recall seeing the water this clear, but according to my wife my memory and hearing is very selective. hmm.

I'd like to thank my FUTURE sponsers: Falcon Rods, Jewel Bait Co, and Seagar

My wife says the same thing about mine. Must be some kind of a trait in us fisher types. Howard and I looked at beds in the back of the little Indian Creek at Baxter yesterday. Dozens of beds with but a few males on them. Man they were spooky. Water temps yesterday morning back there were 54.3 Main lake was 57, Would say it cools so much at night it pushes them off. By mid afternoon, I would think there would be some on the beds. I have caught some spawned out fish. LM and a few K's. Most however are ripe and full of eggs.

Latter part of this week should be good. Even a clear water guy like me is saying enough to this. I'm headed up the White River this morning to see if I can make my bite last longer hoping for a twinge more color. Could go into the James for color, but I just hate to fish Ice Tea color water.

There are some locked on around Kimberling.

Schooner has some color and debris.

Had 5 keepers fairly easily this morning, by 11am or so. About 3X that in shorts. Legals were 1 brown, 3 spots, 1 black. At about noon it was done. Fished another 3 hours for one K. Wind was no help.

All on the little worm, including one swimming it thru chasers.

Will hit them one let time tomorrow, milk running better places.o
