powerdive Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I'd say that's a black crappie in spawning colors.
Fishrman Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 In kings pat 2 days and crappie was terrible. Anyone else seeing this?
duckydoty Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Somebody on the forum posted a video a few months back on fishing a weedless jig for crappie. The jig seemed to work great in the video. I would love to get ahold of some of these jig heads for fishing the brush piles. Anyone remember the name of them and where they can be purchased? They had a little "V" coming off the jig head instead of a single wire for a weed guard. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Discussion on this pic... is the dark crappie a black crappie or a white crappie male in spawning colors? I think the pattern gives it away. The lack of bars says black. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Chief Grey Bear Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I saw this discussion on FB. I agree that you have both White and Black. Like Wayne said, the lack of verticle bars makes it a black. Wayne SW/MO Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 There's a weedless plastic minnow called a Snagless Super Squirt. It's a BP brand and it has a plastic tentacle coming off the back that you stick on the hook point. I haven't used them, but the idea looks sound on the surface. Biglerma Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Been here since sat morning. This trip has by far been the worst crappie trip on the rock in my life. We caught 3 yesterday and 0 today. I gave it up and started fishing bass but my dad flew all the way up from Alabama to fish his childhood lake and catch some crappie. Extremely disappointed with the rock right now. Seeing bass on beds everywhere at shell knob, all males. We fished deep, shallow, every tree we could see. Nothing. I thought they had spawned out but looking at this post I guess not. We even have cedars under our dock and not one crappie. Doesn't add up. Talked to several other fisherman today all who had caught 1 or 2. Just sucks right now for crappie up the kings. 61 degree temps.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 28, 2013 Author Root Admin Posted April 28, 2013 There's no stripe... not like the others we caught. The ones with the stripe weren't that black either.
