Feathers and Fins Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 You know one Sunday night we will have to go play MAD CHEF and find out. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Stump bumper Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Funny you mentioned carp and eggs in the same sentence since I was just reading how carp eggs are gaining popularity in the US. My self I don't eat any fish so don't think I will try either but would like to see more people fishing for and eating carp. I hate to see good food sources go to waste.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Stump, I was I suppose like most at one time thinking of them as a trash fish with no value at all. I had a friend back in Cali that cooked me some one night and boy was it good. I figured anything that good needed to be added to the menu. I started like most with dough baits then found out they liked a fly and natural progression took over and I put them very high on my catch list. Cooking list they are low because of how much prep time is needed not because of flavor though. I keep one or two a year kinda like Gar, I like them but the cleaning time is longer than I want to mess with most nights. Still very few fish compare to ( Look Downs ) dam things are as good as I have ever had. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Feathers and Fins Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 1.5 to 2.5 yesterday I had to go 2.5 to get the bite. You have to play with it a bit. Start in shallow and work you way out at slow speed and then speed up till you get the right speed down. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
chris3179 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 You mentioned " I have my line out to boat speed so I know where on the graph the line will meet the fish." Can you elaborate a little more or point me where to get more info on this?
Feathers and Fins Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 I open bail to my baits letting them sit free floating and mark on the graphs bottom where I let them out when it gets to a point I set the bail it takes some getting use to, take into account for the angle but when you do it right you know when to expect the bite. for instance I know if im trolling at 2.5mph the bait has to be back 140 feet to be at 22 fow and at the left of my graph. Same set-up at 1.5 mph it will only dive to 15 fow and be about 3/4 of the way across it. A lot of the learning curb was hitting snags... different speed I would hit the snag. After a few times I learned I could actually with line counter reels become very precise with where on my graph the bait would contact the mark for each speed and bait I use. You will loose a lot of lures doing it unless you remove the hooks. I seriously need to write a trolling article lmao. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
rps Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Listen well people. Experiment with speeds and line length when you can so you can decide where to put the bait. F and F doesn't magically find a depth and speed. He puts it there.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 You are correct RPS. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
