Members Crawbug Posted April 29, 2013 Members Posted April 29, 2013 Could anyone share their method for attaching the hookless baits to the the A-Rig? I finally broke down and decided to try throwing it this year.... I know we can only use 3 hooks on the rig at Table Rock and I'm trying to figure out the best way to attach the 2 dummies. Thanks!
abkeenan Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Most people I think just cut the barb or rounded portion of the hook off the jig head and run their dummy on it. I on the other hand bought these: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Do-it_Hitching_Post_25pk/descpage-DOITHPS.html and just screw in through the nose of the dummy and that works as well. My 2 cents.
rainbow Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I cut the hooks off and superglued the body to the jig head. works great.
Bitethis Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 you can always attach a couple large willow leaf blades....thats what I do. Produces well, adds flash and thump.
steveearle Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I am a fan of willow blades on the "open' arms, however, a Hitchhiker is a very good option for the dummy baits

I have one, but haven't use it yet. This is what I believe I'll do, or just cut the extras of. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I'd highly recommend adding blades as opposed to cutting the arms off. It seems like the more blades/baits you have, the better...if you don't want to add the pull of a #4 willow, downsize to a 3. The extra hardware won't hurt..but I don't have near the confidence with a 3 arm bait...just my $.02..
fishingaddiction Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I have one rigged up with two large willow leaf blades. It works well for fishing it shallow, but just the opposite when you need to keep the rig deep. the blades add lift, and certainly add some extra pull. The flash they put off is good, which I think is good under certain conditions. This is just a matter of what you want the rig to do. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
