Haven't been boating on a weekend for a few years. Those days are used to get things done at home. I am working two to three days a week, and go fishing on the off days. I don't want to deal with crowds. Last summer the PC ramp parking lot would only have a handful of vehicles on Mondays.

Happens a ton in the Prarire Creek area, too. I hate those wake board boats. Their entire purpose in life is to produce the very thing that is so hard on shorelines, docks, fishermen and moored boats.

But $50K would only get you a used one. I peeked at the price tag of some at the Rogers Boat Show last year out of curiosity and most were close to 6 figures or higher. Top one I saw was nearly $120k!

Man isnt that the truth. Arrowhead had a "boat show" at prarie creek dock a few weeks ago. Since I keep my bassboat there and fish most weekends I couldnt help but go take a peak and enjoy one of thier free beverages. The cheapest pontoon they had was $35k and they had a tritoon pontoon with a 300hp mercury verado on it for a cool 95k. Now ski boats were just a whole other ballpark, they ranged from 75k -135k. Yes, those figures are correct... And i thought a new Ranger bass boat was expensive, it looks dang cheap next to a $135,000 wake boar boat. And how do people justify having them if they can only use them from May-Mid September and it sits in storage most of the year??

As Phil Robertson says...

To the public...

Please don't misunderstand. I agree everyone has a right to use the lake and enjoy it. I enjoy watching a few boat bunnies on the lake from time to time. Its the people who think they own the lake and treat it like a cheap broken down rental car. (Polite way of saying using it like they were a pimp and it owed them money) lol!

If people could share the lake and show a little respect for others and not try to race around the lake churning up the lake just because they can (or the idiot who doesn't know how to use a trim switch and wants to run around at a 45-degree angle creating a 6-7ft wake).

Be courteous, use some common sense, and load your boat before you pull up at the ramp so us experienced folk can get the heck out of Dodge before we go postal on the "uneducated" .

I've seen those pontoons with the big motors on them, why anyone would want a pontoon with a 300 HP motor on it is beyond me. Pontoons are all about kicking back, relaxing, enjoying life. A 300 HP motor on a pontoon is just plain wrong.

I like what some of the ramps in Florida started doing... 5 minute tie-up to ramp maximum and enforced it. I was watching a Party Barge Sunday that had 10 people for it.. they launched tied up and then went and parked the truck. Then they started going to and from the truck bringing gear down from the parking lot... Ties up an entire dock side and the rug rats on the dock were making it hard for people to get off and on... Why they couldn't have had one of the other adults pull it out and motor over to the shore is beyond me.

Heck put No fishing from dock signs on them and 5 minute tie-up and stick a ranger on it with those rules in play from 6am to 6pm and I bet ACE makes enough money to keep all the parks open and do some nice improvement work off the fines.

I'll take the Holiday Island Winnebago over all of them. Those guys got it down to luxury. May not be the most fancy boat for looks but many a cold morning ive been jealous of them

At Wedington yesterday evening, a couple tied up the ramp for almost 15 minutes loading and tying down two approx 50 pound kayaks onto their SUV at the end of the ramp. They could have easily carried them 75 feet to the parking lot where there was plenty of room. They could see I was waiting to load my boat. Wonder what would happen if they did that at Hickory Creek on a busy evening?
