Playing these fronts has gotten interesting. I am finding the bite has been very good the day after it passes on the banks, I know its attributed to the large amount of fresh food washing in the lake. Bass will be moving up on the beds but im betting we are 3 maybe even 4 weeks behind a normal year. Start looking for beds on bluff and rock banks and feeders up in the vegetation that is now under water there has been a lot of bluegill up in them.

The bigger bass I am still catching in open water around shad schools some of them BIG females full of eggs. My honest feeling is if tournament anglers would concentrate on those bass we could see a 5 fish limit hitting 25+ pounds but not many people work over those bass going more with typical shallower water patterns. jm2c

I have not seen but maybe one bluegill in this lake. All I've ever been able to catch is sunfish (a cousin of the brim/redear). I've never had luck catching any decent panfish on this lake either. Tried crickets, worms, jigs, etc. You can't catch much from the bank that's for sure. Unless you're in a spot that's not fished often and has the right type of cover for the panfish.

Have you had other experiences?

My father, daughter, and I went out one day last year and tore some panfish up! We were catching perch and such for trot lines and started catching some that were as big and bigger then my hand! Around 7" long and a good 4-5" wide. My daughter (10 years old) was having a blast catching them so we stayed at it. I think we probably caught over 200 that day! We were fishing shallow submerged trees and rocky banks just using the good 'ole worm and bobber! Their in Beaver, just have to find them, and keep going haha

Doc, run the Cutter up in the back of Montne or Prairie Creek. There are tons of sunfish in them. When the walleye get on a great shallow bite I have watched them chasing down the sunfish like a starving man at a all you can eat buffet. Beaver is more fertile than people give it credit.

Doc got your point, such terms as perch, bluegill, sunfish are interchanged to describe the same fish, but I always thought brim was a generic term and not a species of sunfish. Then again Bass are a type of sunfish....and walleye are a perch so when my daughter is catching sunfish and calls it perch jerking it always gets on my nerves. I have hooked some 1- 2lb bluegill on beaver but always on a drop shot or jig, but then could have been red ear since I don't look at panfish that close but sure were not any type of perch....

Well sounds like Beaver has them. They have eluded me and my son over the years. All I caught were those dinky little 4" sun perch. You know....the little greenish gold ones with spots all over them? There's thousands of those little boogers.

So......I see the "freaky weather" was actually great weather. Saw lots of posts this weekend reporting great catches. Local crappie guide had a big limit and said the worst weather the better. That's Beaver for you! :-)
