Looking at reports from TR, I keep seeing nice photos of Rock Bass caught while scrubing a grub.

I've caught good numbers of them when I used to fish TR and scrubbed a grub or fished during springtime with other stuff.

I've caught them on Norfork Lake whith a grub, but I can't remember catching Rock Bass on BSL.

Green Sunfish yes, Bluegill, yes. Redear Sunfish, a very few, but yes. Crappie, Hell Yes. Pumpkinseed, yes. Yellow Perch, yes. But I can't remember catching true Rock Bass.

Anybody catching Rock Bass on BSL ?

The world record Ozark Bass came from Bull Shoals.

The Ozark Bass is very similar to the Northern Rock Bass, I think they were only considered separate species since the late 70s.

But the few times I've fish BSL, I haven't caught one either.

I have fished Bull forever and have never caught or heard of one being caught. I have absolutely no doubt there are a few around, but why not the numbers??? You have to consider on a lake of that size with as many feeder creeks as there are, there are some in the lake. Bear Creek is a tributary I have personally caught rock bass in, but not at lake level, upstream. No doubt a few coming down into that area of the lake though. I would think Big Creek and Theodosia Creek would have to have a few around as well.

It is weird that there are not more of them???? I caught a Hell Bender one time, know they are there. I've seen spoonbill pictures, I think even on this website. I caught a Buffalo (smallmouth Buffalo I believe) one time that I had no clue was in the lake. There is no telling what someone has caught out of there at some point though. Anybody else with some weird ones?

I've never caught one out of BS. I've caught ozarks in Beaver creek and rocks in TR, but nothing out of the upper end. I flyfished quite a bit last summer for perch in general and caught lots of them, but no ozark or rock bass.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
