Members TrAB418 Posted May 10, 2013 Members Posted May 10, 2013 My buddy and me are taking the Yaks out Saturday, debating on what to fish. I was thinking about going from 65 towards the main lake but was also thinking maybe fishing the main lake (flats and such). Any suggestions? Also if anyone is out on Saturday evening, don't be afraid to say hi, we'll be in some FS10 kayaks (green/black and then grey/black).
MSUFisherBear Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I'm going to head out early Saturday. If I happen to see ya, I'll holler. Ill be in a red 9' kayak. I'm probably going to be fishing around the bluff, but I am looking for some of the big ole red-ear I've been catching lately. Also, I've been doing really well my last couple of times out with a Senko with a light jig head to make it fall a little faster. I think as the water keeps warming up, and the fish keep moving off bed, there definetely getting more active. They've been hitting a lot harder. Which means top water really oughtta start getting good! There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind. ~Washington Irving
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Ill prob be down too. 14 landau w/ white outboard. I did have one nail a frog the other day. First frog bite I've had this year. Also caught one on a Carolina rigged yum dinger. Watermelon seed color
MSUFisherBear Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Well I went. I caught four bass. Switched over to catch a few for the freezer and caught a few big bluegills on Berkley Aive Worms. That stuff works great. Still haven't caught any big red ear this year though. Water is still pretty cold. MSUFisherBear Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 For bluegill that is... There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind. ~Washington Irving
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I went for about an hour. Had tons of action on the frog. Prob 6 or 7 blow ups on it. Caught a couple on a shakey head and a zoom finesse worm. Didn't stay long. Tons I people everywhere and wind. So I went home and put together an old outboard that I rebuilt
Members TrAB418 Posted May 12, 2013 Author Members Posted May 12, 2013 Ended up going around 1pm to 8pm, and yea it was prettttyy windy. But we managed to catch four between us. I caught both of mine on a blue and silver crankbait, retrieving kinda slow with a twitch here and there. My buddy caught his on a white top water frog. No pictures but they were nice size fish, especially the one caught on the frog. We put in at the lake access parking lot and headed towards 65, caught all our fish in one of the coves. Good day. PS: Does anyone know how to get to the trail that goes through the back of the cove closes to the main lake? It has bridges that go of the river and everything. (If that makes sense)
MSUFisherBear Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Sounds like the nature center. You can either use the green ways trail from Southwood or get to the actual center from Republic road. There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind. ~Washington Irving
Members Prestone Posted May 13, 2013 Members Posted May 13, 2013 Some buddies and I have been going on down stream below the dam (from shore, not a yak or canoe). Been catching some nice bluegill at a bend in the river.
