Members revo4life Posted May 30, 2013 Members Posted May 30, 2013 i wen't today to horseshoe bend for about 5-6 hours and caught nothing, there no cover at all and it was really windy. i was wondering where can i do some shore fishing (some place with cover for the fish) i was trying to catch bluegill, crappie or bass. i wen't with my wife and my little girl. was fishing trick worms tx rig style with a 1/4 oz bullet weight and the worm was in green pumpkin color that was for bass. for crappie i was throwing some little grubs, float & fly. as i say'd caught nothing and the watter was stained. i am planning on going next week so i can use some help in here. thanks.
Feathers and Fins Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Prairie Creek, You can fish the fishing pier and rocks at the state park. Also there is the old dirt ramp off Old Prairie Creek Road walk from the parking lot to the back. Montne the North shore line from the parking lot to the back of the creek is also good. Rocky Branch the entire state park area is pretty good. Shore fishing on Beaver is not easy and most times limiting to non-practical but those three places are good starts. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
JohnF52 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Shore fishing is very difficult due to snags. You will lose more gear trying it than any other method. If I was confined to shore fishing Beaver, I would try the areas of access from Blue Springs on up toward the headwaters. There is a lot of good access around the old Blue Springs park, and also at the place where Blue Springs Road crosses the small cove south of there a couple of miles. If the water level drops to about 1117, there is good access at Beav-o-Rama area.
npierceuark Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 If you are going for just entertainment purposes I would try some of the creeks and rivers vs the lake. The fish are more accessible and apt to bite. Illinois river, elk river, war eagle, white river, clear creek, indian creek. all offer good wade fishing and usually a fair amount of smallmouth bass that can offer a good challenge on ultralight gear. Plus they are a little more interesting for kids with rapids, crawdads, minnows and gravel bars at their disposal.
