hoglaw Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Looks like the whole White River system is about to get pounded. That sounds great to me as it should make for some good high water fishing all summer. But my question is what is the immediate effect, as in what will the river be like Sunday? Obviously the farther you go downstream the worse the effects will be in terms of muddy water. I would imagine anything below crooked creek or the buffalo will be pretty rough. But what about higher on the river? Will the White Hole area be trashed with that much rain on Sunday, which will otherwise be a really pretty day? I was looking at trying to go this weekend, and I don't mind high water from generation at all. But it's a long drive for muddy water conditions.
rps Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Of course there will be runoff between the dam and White Hole, but nothing "major" enters in that stretch. In addition, discharge comes from the lower levels of the lake which is still clear. That will tend to clear up any local mud runoff - or even better - to create a mud/clear line. I say go for it unless a local who knows more than I adds more accurate info. Besides, it is a nce drive and if its muddy you can swear at me all the way back.
Ham Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Roll the dice and see what happens. Upper river is almost always an option especially if they run a little water which helps push dirty water downstream. You can still catch them with a little color in the water, but I would drive any distance to fish below Rim Shoals. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
